Prime Minister Modi celebrates 11 years of Make in India

Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized the significant contributions of the ‘Make in India’ initiative during its 11th anniversary, stating that it has greatly furthered India’s economic strength. Launched on September 25, 2014, this initiative aims to enhance self-reliance and harness entrepreneurial potential across various sectors.

“It is gladdening to see how 11 Years Of Make In India has contributed to furthering economic strength and laying the foundation for Aatmanirbharta. It has encouraged innovation and job creation across sectors,” PM Modi posted on X, formerly Twitter.

In his statement, PM Modi highlighted the importance of promoting indigenous production, urging stakeholders in all industries to work together towards a ‘Swadeshi’ economy. He noted, “The journey forward requires a collective focus on supporting domestic manufacturing and innovation.”

During the Uttar Pradesh International Trade Show-2025, PM Modi reiterated his commitment to simplifying business processes, reflecting the government’s steps to boost Make in India manufacturing. He mentioned the removal of over 40,000 compliance requirements and the decriminalization of more than a thousand laws to facilitate a business-friendly environment.

“The government is focused on manufacturing everything from chips to ships right here in India. We are committed to enhancing your ease of doing business,” PM Modi assured the business fraternity present at the event.

The anniversary of the ‘Make in India’ initiative also saw Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal commend the program’s success in bolstering indigenous defence production. Goyal remarked, “The world is a witness to India’s defence manufacturing strength today! Guided by PM Modi’s vision, we’ve achieved remarkable milestones in this domain, showcasing the success of the Make in India initiative.”

Highlighting one of the recent landmarks of indigenous defence production, India successfully launched the Intermediate Range Agni-Prime Missile today from a rail-based mobile launcher. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh congratulated the agencies involved in this significant achievement, reinforcing the capabilities developed under the ‘Make in India’ program.

The success of ‘Make in India’ is evident in the applause from various sectors, with stakeholders acknowledging the initiative’s positive impact on the economy. The Prime Minister’s call for a boost in local production resonates as India aims to position itself as a global manufacturing hub.

As PM Modi noted, this initiative not only promotes self-reliance but also signals a commitment to building a resilient economy capable of withstanding global challenges. With 11 years of ‘Make in India’ behind us, the road ahead anticipates more innovations and collaborative growth, setting a foundation for an even more robust economic landscape.
