Security forces on high alert at the Line of Control

A senior official of the Border Security Force (BSF) revealed on Saturday that terrorists are stationed at launch pads along the Line of Control (LoC), ready to infiltrate the Kashmir valley. Inspector General (IG) Ashok Yadav emphasized that security forces remain alert and equipped to prevent any infiltration attempts.

“Increased attempts to infiltrate terrorists into the valley are common before the winter snow,” Yadav stated during a press interaction. “There are about two months until snowfall, meaning the chances of infiltration persist until November. Terrorists aim to take advantage of this window, knowing that opportunities will diminish significantly for the next six months.”

Yadav pointed out the existing presence of terrorists at various launch pads opposite their area of responsibility in the Bandipora and Kupwara sectors. These locations serve as strategic points from which militants often aim to cross over into Indian territory.

“While terrorist groups are prepared, our security remains tight,” he added. “They tend to exploit inclement weather to attempt infiltration, but we stand ready to address any potential threats.”

The IG highlighted that both the Army and BSF maintain robust control over the LoC, bolstered by advanced surveillance technology. “We effectively dominate the LC thanks to our cooperation with the Army,” he stated. “This year alone, we have successfully thwarted two infiltration attempts. Enhanced alertness, combined with sophisticated surveillance systems, has made it especially difficult for any militants to cross into our region.”

The security situation in Kashmir remains sensitive, particularly as the winter months approach. The region has long been a focal point of conflict, and ensuring the safety of the local population is paramount for Indian security forces. As the situation evolves, the BSF promises to maintain vigilance and readiness against potential threats.
