In a bold move against drug trafficking, Srinagar Police attached immovable property worth ₹1.20 crore belonging to notorious drug peddler Nisar Ahmad Sheikh. This operation took place on Tuesday as part of the ongoing 100 Days Campaign under the Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyaan, a significant initiative aimed at eradicating drug abuse in the region.
Acting under Section 68-F of the NDPS Act, the attachment took place at Police Station Nowhatta in connection with FIR No. 61/2019, which falls under the provisions of Sections 8/20 of the NDPS Act. The attached assets include a fully renovated three-storey residential house, a standalone single-storey concrete kitchen block, and land measuring nine marlas, all believed to have been acquired through the illegal proceeds of drug trafficking.
Nisar Ahmad Sheikh, son of Habibullah Sheikh, resides in Kani Dewar, Sheikh Mohallah, Hawal, Srinagar. Investigations by the police revealed the connection between his property and illicit drug activities, prompting the attachment under stringent legal guidelines.
Authorities stressed that this decisive action exemplifies the unwavering commitment of Srinagar Police to dismantle the financial infrastructure supporting drug networks. The police reiterated their resolve to intensify operations against drug peddlers and urged local residents to cooperate by sharing any information regarding drug abuse or trafficking.
This crackdown on drug peddling aligns with the broader strategy of the Jammu & Kashmir administration to combat the rising tide of narcotics-related issues in the region. The Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir initiative not only targets drug traffickers but also aims to foster a cleaner and safer environment for residents.
The community’s engagement is vital in this campaign. Authorities are calling upon citizens to report suspicious activities to facilitate a more effective approach to combat drug abuse. The increased awareness and vigilance can significantly contribute to curtailing the drug menace that adversely affects society.
In conclusion, the attachment of Nisar Ahmad Sheikh’s property highlights the serious implications of drug trafficking in Jammu & Kashmir and serves as a reminder of the continuing challenges faced by law enforcement. As the police continue to pursue stringent measures against drug networks, collective action from the community remains crucial in this fight.
