Working President of JKPCC Raman Bhalla highlighted the BJP’s neglect of the Bagh-e-Bhau pilgrim-tourist circuit during a visit with other congress leaders on September 25th. Bhalla, along with Former ministers Yogesh Sawhney and Yash Pal Kundal, visited crucial areas including Balidaan Stambh, Har ki Pousi, Herbal Garden, and Bagh-e-Bahu, expressing serious concerns over the deteriorating condition of road connectivity in these vital tourism spots.

They criticized the BJP-led administration, attributing the distressing state of the tourist infrastructure to a decade of neglect. This circuit was initially developed under the Congress regime, which was in power before 2014. The ensemble of leaders noted that the roads connecting Balidhan Stambh to Har ki Poudi as well as the route from Shahbad Colony to Bagh-e-Bahu are reportedly in shambles, exacerbated by the recent monsoon rains and subsequent flooding.

Bhalla stated, “The BJP led governments have utterly failed in maintaining this vital pilgrim tourist circuit. What was once a revered destination has fallen into disrepair due to neglect and lack of foresight.” He demanded urgent repairs and renovations to restore the circuit emphasizing its significance for both tourists and locals alike.

Highlighting the absence of regular maintenance and upgrades over the years, Bhalla stated the government has rendered the area uninviting and cumbersome. “Tourists and pilgrims deserve better roads and facilities. This government is not doing its job in maintaining India’s rich heritage and encouraging tourism,” he lamented.

Senior Congress leaders pointed fingers at the BJP for making empty promises regarding the beautification of Jammu city, alongside grand claims about promoting tourism and developing various key spots. This cycle of neglect has created a sharp divide between the party’s promises and their actual performance.

“BJP has failed Jammu on every front. The recent rains have exposed their hollow claims about smart developments. The situation is dire,” said leader Diwan Chand, who was alongside Bhalla during the visit. Other leaders who joined included Latish Sharma, Mangat Ram, and Sahil Shavotra among others.

The visiting congress leaders underscored their determination to restore the Bagh-e-Bhau circuit, making a case for urgent government intervention. “If the authorities do not act now, we risk losing a part of our heritage that people have cherished for years,” remarked Kundal.

In conclusion, the call for immediate repairs and proactive engagement from local authorities remains a priority for the leaders. Elected representatives must prioritise tourist infrastructure to ensure the growth and sustainability of Jammu’s tourism sector.
