
Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha inaugurated the new Centre of Dr. Agarwals Eye Hospital at Qamarwari in Srinagar today. This facility aims to enhance healthcare access across Jammu and Kashmir. Addressing attendees, Sinha emphasized the importance of ensuring that every citizen has access to affordable healthcare, particularly in rural and far-flung areas.
Over the past decade, technologies, especially AI-powered systems, have fundamentally transformed eye care. Sinha noted that these developments offer faster, more accurate diagnoses and personalized treatment options for patients. He stated that it is crucial for healthcare providers in Jammu and Kashmir to adopt these advances to provide residents with care comparable to that available in major cities like Delhi, Mumbai, and Chennai.
“AI has enabled doctors to detect early signs of diseases and eye problems. I urge Dr. Agarwals Eye Centre and other hospitals to leverage these innovations,” Sinha said during the inauguration. The Lieutenant Governor highlighted the ongoing transformation of the healthcare sector in Jammu and Kashmir, attributing many advancements to the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi.
Sinha also mentioned the rapid expansion of both government and private healthcare infrastructure, which has significantly improved the quality of healthcare services in the region. He stated, “Under the current administration, we are committed to ensuring that every citizen has access to quality healthcare services, resulting in a healthier and more prosperous future for Jammu and Kashmir.”
In a call to action, the Lieutenant Governor encouraged Dr. Agarwals Eye Centre and other medical establishments to organize free eye check-up camps across Jammu and Kashmir. He particularly emphasized the need for services in rural and border regions, advocating for the use of telemedicine, virtual consultations, and digital examinations to extend reach and represent selfless service.
Dr. Ashar Agarwal, Chief Business Officer of Dr Agarwals Group of Eye Hospitals, and Dr. Atif Ali Mir, Head Clinical Services at the new facility, were present at the inauguration. They expressed their commitment towards utilizing advanced technology to optimize patient care. Other notable figures at the event included Dr. Shahid Iqbal Choudhary, Secretary of the Science & Technology department, and Shri Anshul Garg, Divisional Commissioner of Kashmir.
The integration of AI into healthcare systems marks a significant leap towards modernizing healthcare in Jammu and Kashmir. With the commitment from the government and healthcare administrators, residents of the region can anticipate improved service quality that aligns with modern medical standards.
