On Monday, Jammu police made significant strides in their fight against drug trafficking by recovering over one kilogram of charas and arresting two suspected drug peddlers in the Shopian and Budgam districts.

In Shopian, police reacted swiftly to actionable intelligence by initiating a search operation. The Police Station Zainapora registered FIR No. 77/2025 under the NDPS Act and secured a search warrant from the Chief Judicial Magistrate’s court.

The operation, led by the Station House Officer (SHO) of Zainapora along with an Executive Magistrate 1st Class, targeted the residence of Gh. Mohammad Sheikh, a local resident of Humhuna Nagbal. The police conducted a meticulous search of the premises.

“During the search, over one kilogram of charas and a grinder machine used for processing drugs were seized. The accused remains at large, and efforts to apprehend him are ongoing,” stated a police spokesperson.

In a separate operation within the same district, officers from Police Post Wachi detained a suspect at a checkpoint in Naghard Wachi. The individual, identified as Imtiyaz Ahmad Sheikh of Pombia Kulgam, was caught with approximately 101 grams of charas.

This led to the registration of another case, FIR No. 78/2025 under the NDPS Act, at the Police Station Zainapora. The police continue to investigate this case.

Meanwhile, in Budgam district, a suspected drug peddler met with the same fate during a police checkpoint at Checkpora Kralpora. The arrested individual, Moomin Qadir Dhobi of Dharambugh Kralpora, was in possession of 112 grams of charas.

This incident prompted the registration of case FIR No. 173/2025 under the NDPS Act at Police Station Chadoora. Authorities are actively probing the circumstances surrounding this arrest.

These operations underscore Jammu police’s relentless commitment to combat drug trafficking in the region. The recovery of over one kilogram of charas marks yet another significant achievement in the ongoing battle against narcotics.

Police remind residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity in their neighborhoods. Community cooperation holds an essential role in assisting law enforcement agencies in their crackdown on illegal drug trade.
