The Delhi Police successfully apprehended two wanted criminals linked to foreign-based gangsters during an encounter in the Kapashera area on Friday. The suspects, identified as Akash Rajput and Mahipal, hail from Rajasthan and are implicated in multiple serious crimes.
Rajput has been on the run for multiple extortion and kidnapping cases spanning across Haryana, Gujarat, and Rajasthan. Authorities confirmed a ₹20,000 bounty on Rajput’s head, a testament to his criminal notoriety.
According to police, Rajput played a role in a high-profile firing incident outside a hospital in Assandh, Karnal, in July 2022, ordered by gangster Daler Kotia. He is also wanted for a notorious kidnapping case in July 2025 in Gujarat, where gangster Kirit Singh Jhala allegedly sought a ₹100 crore ransom for the victim’s release.
Police investigations revealed that Kirit Singh Jhala recently aligned himself with known gangsters like Rohit Godara, Goldy Brar, and Virender Charan, escalating concerns over rising gang violence in the region.
Mahipal, previously arrested in the Karnal firing case, had managed to secure bail but was active again within this criminal network, raising alarm among law enforcement agencies.
During the encounter, Rajput sustained a bullet injury to his lower body before police managed to overpower him. Police promptly transported him to a nearby hospital for urgent medical attention, and investigations continue as law enforcement pieces together this complex web of criminal activity.
Officials emphasized their commitment to dismantling these networks linked to foreign gangsters, which pose significant threats to public safety. The recent arrests are part of a broader crackdown on organized crime in the region.
