On Monday, Minister for Youth Services and Sports, Satish Sharma, inaugurated a modern multipurpose indoor sports hall in Khour. This initiative strengthens the sports infrastructure significantly in the border regions of the Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory.
During his address, Sharma emphasized the government’s earnest commitment to provide modern, accessible, and inclusive sports facilities for the youth. He noted the focus on rural and border areas to foster a robust sports culture, discipline, and a healthy lifestyle among local youth.
“Quality sports infrastructure at the grassroots level plays a crucial role in identifying, nurturing, and grooming sporting talent. Our aim is to ensure that no talented youth is deprived of opportunities due to lack of facilities,” Sharma stated.
The newly inaugurated indoor sports hall boasts world-class facilities designed for various sports disciplines. It includes provisions for three badminton courts, six table tennis courts, a volleyball court, two judo courts, and two wrestling and kabaddi courts. This comprehensive training environment positions athletes for success and supports diverse sporting activities.
Additionally, Sharma interacted with local youth and sportspersons during the inauguration, encouraging them to make the most of these new facilities. He assured attendees of the government’s continued prioritization of sports infrastructure development, youth involvement, and talent promotion throughout Jammu and Kashmir.
The indoor sports hall’s inauguration is poised to significantly enhance sporting activities in Khour and nearby regions, providing young athletes access to advanced, world-class facilities close to their homes. This move not only promotes a healthier lifestyle but also creates pathways for local talent to excel in competitive sports.
