The Special Crime Wing (SCW) of the Jammu Crime Branch has filed a chargesheet against Kartik Choudhary, a local resident of Purana Pind in RS Pura, for allegedly defrauding individuals seeking foreign employment visas. This significant development occurred on Monday, following a formal complaint on the matter.
Authorities claim that Choudhary deceived multiple victims under the false pretense of arranging work visas, notably for Portugal. The case began with a single complaint, prompting an investigation that unveiled seven additional victims with similar grievances, as reported by a spokesperson from the Jammu Crime Branch.
Investigators conducted a thorough inquiry, which successfully established that the accused had indeed perpetrated fraud against these complainants, leading to the registration of a formal case. The inquiry included a review of vital evidence such as bank records, electronic documentation, travel papers, and witness statements. Forensic experts also examined questioned signatures, confirming their link to Choudhary.
In a related matter, the Crime Branch has opened another case against a Srinagar-based enterprise accused of executing a fraudulent Modular Kitchen project. This complaint was launched by a resident of Sainik Colony, Jammu, who claimed to have entrust an amount of Rs five lakh to a local business for the installation services.
The complainant stated that his loan, approved by J&K Bank of Gole Gujral Branch, was transferred to Messrs Choudhary Enterprises Forum for the work execution. However, despite numerous follow-ups, the project remained unfulfilled and the funds were not refunded.
Authorities recorded two additional complaints against the same firm, echoing claims of non-execution of services tied to substantial payments made by other victims. Investigators continue to look into the situation, with preliminary assessments indicating strong merit to the allegations.
The Crime Branch spokesperson confirmed that formal legal proceedings are underway against both Choudhary and the Srinagar-based enterprise, focusing on relevant sections of the law concerning cheating, criminal breach of trust, and conspiracy.
The filing of this chargesheet serves as a formidable reminder of the need for vigilance regarding foreign employment opportunities, particularly in the face of increasing scams. Victims are encouraged to report such instances to relevant authorities to aid in preventing further incidents.
