Ahead of the Independence Day celebrations, Jammu and Kashmir Police conducted long-range patrolling and an anti-terror mock drill on Tuesday in Samba district to assess operational preparedness. This exercise aimed to strengthen security arrangements and ensure prompt response to any contingency, according to an official.
The Special Operations Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir Police undertook the long-range patrolling, covering nearly 20 kilometers from Jatwal to Lala Chak along the busy Jammu-Pathankot national highway.
Following the patrolling, a mock drill was conducted at the border police post in Lala Chak, where personnel practiced their readiness to respond to a simulated terror attack. During this exercise, two simulated terrorists executed an attack on an establishment.
The SOG personnel swiftly established a cordon around the simulated threat area and neutralized the attackers effectively. This drill underscored the importance of tactical preparedness and showcased the police’s capability to handle potential emergencies efficiently.
Samba Senior Superintendent of Police Anuj Kumar emphasized the police’s dedication to maintaining robust security arrangements, particularly as Independence Day approaches. He reassured citizens regarding their safety and security in the region.
Kumar stated, “This mock drill is part of our ongoing efforts to ensure that our personnel are fully prepared to deal with any threats. We are committed to keeping our communities safe.”
The proactive approach taken by Jammu and Kashmir Police highlights their strategic planning for the festive period, aiming to address any unrest or disturbances effectively. Such drills not only bolster the confidence of law enforcement but also instill a sense of security among the residents.
