The Special Crime Wing of Crime Branch Kashmir (CBK) launched significant house searches at five locations in Srinagar and Budgam on Saturday. This operation relates to the investigation of a cheating case that has raised serious concerns about fraudulent land sales.

According to an official spokesperson of the Crime Branch Kashmir, the probe targets allegations surrounding the fraudulent sale of land. He stated, “The Special Crime Wing, Srinagar of Crime Branch Kashmir is conducting House Searches at five different locations in District Srinagar and Budgam in connection with the investigation of a case registered at Police Station Special Crime Wing, Srinagar.”

Officials revealed that the investigation began following a complaint from an individual who reported being deceived by the sellers who promised legitimate land ownership. The complainant claimed to have received land documents that appeared genuine, leading them to pay large sums of money.

However, investigations revealed that the land did not legitimately belong to the sellers, confirming suspicions raised during early inquiries. This revelation has fueled the ongoing investigation into the operations of these unscrupulous sellers who exploit unsuspecting buyers.

The Crime Branch’s announcement highlighted the seriousness of the cheatings, as the verification of land documents was misleading. Such fraudulent activities not only jeopardize financial stability but also undermine public trust in land dealings in the region.

As investigations progress, the CBK remains committed to uncovering the broader network involved in this substantial cheating operation. “House Searches are underway and further investigation is ongoing,” the CBK spokesperson confirmed, emphasizing the necessity of these actions to ensure justice for the victim.

With these developments, authorities urge potential property buyers to conduct thorough due diligence and verify land ownership before finalizing transactions. The Crime Branch Kashmir aims to fortify measures against such deceitful practices to protect the interests of citizens.
