
On the birth anniversary of the revered nationalist leader Pandit Prem Nath Dogra, fondly known as Sher-e-Duggar, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) paid glowing tributes across Jammu and Kashmir today. The commemorations took place on [insert date], emphasizing Dogra’s legacy and his pivotal role in the integration of Jammu and Kashmir with India.
In Srinagar, BJP National General Secretary and in-charge for Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh, Tarun Chugh, led the memorial service. He, along with senior party leaders, garlanded Dogra’s portrait at the party headquarters. Dignitaries included Sat Sharma, J&K BJP President; Ashok Koul, General Secretary (Organization); Dr. Shehnaz Ganai, and Anwar Khan, all of whom offered floral tributes to the great leader.
Tarun Chugh praised Pt. Prem Nath Dogra, stating, “He was an institution of national integration and selfless service.” He highlighted how Dogra’s struggle for ‘Ek Vidhan, Ek Nishan, Ek Pradhan’ served as a guiding principle for the Bharatiya Jana Sangh and remains influential for the BJP.
Chugh further articulated that the abrogation of Articles 370 and 35A by the Narendra Modi Government realizes Dogra’s lifelong aspiration, calling it “the ultimate tribute to his steadfast commitment to national unity.”
Sat Sharma described Dogra as a visionary leader who spearheaded the Praja Parishad Movement. He affirmed Dogra’s relentless dedication towards the complete integration of Jammu & Kashmir with India, commenting, “Pandit Ji’s long-cherished dream has been realized under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.”
Ashok Koul reminisced about Dogra’s moral integrity and conviction. He stated that Dogra’s determination in the “Ek Vidhan, Ek Nishan, Ek Pradhan” initiative led to the abolishment of the separate title of Prime Minister for Jammu and Kashmir, thereby fostering unity.
In Jammu, local BJP figures, including MP (Lok Sabha) Jugal Kishore Sharma, J&K BJP General Secretaries Sanjita Dogra and Baldev Singh Billawaria, performed a Hawan and honored Dogra’s memory with floral tributes at the commemorative site, Dogra Chowk.
Jugal Kishore Sharma remarked, “Pt. Dogra was a towering statesman and patriot, leading the historic Praja Parishad Movement for the full integration of J&K with India.” His words resonated with the attendees, reflecting the unity and commitment within the party.
Sanjita Dogra urged party workers to emulate Pt. Dogra’s spirit of selflessness, while Baldev Singh Billawaria highlighted how Dogra’s ideology continues to lay the groundwork for the consolidation of Jammu and Kashmir with the Indian Union.
The tributes offered on this significant date reaffirm the BJP’s commitment to remembering and honoring the legacy of one of its key figures, as they continue to strive for the fulfillment of the vision laid out by Pt. Prem Nath Dogra.
