External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar called for stronger solidarity among Global South nations and a unified approach to reforming the United Nations during a key meeting at the 80th session of the UN General Assembly on Tuesday in New York. During the High-Level Meeting of Like-Minded Global South countries, Jaishankar pointed out the various challenges faced by developing nations, stating, “In the face of a proliferation of global concerns and multiplicity of risks, it is natural that the Global South turns to multilateralism for solutions.” His statement emphasizes the essential role of multilateralism in addressing shared concerns.
