The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) Kashmir of the Crime Branch, Jammu and Kashmir, has filed a chargesheet against four persons for allegedly securing government jobs in the Health Department by using fake and forged educational certificates.

According to an official statement, the chargesheet in FIR No. 16/2014 was presented before the Court of the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Srinagar, under Sections 420 (Cheating), 468 (Forgery for the Purpose of Cheating), and 471 (Using Forged Documents as Genuine) of the Ranbir Penal Code (RPC).

The accused have been identified as Shuja Jeelani of Pamposh Colony, Channapora, Srinagar; Mohd Iqbal of Umer Colony, Lal Nagar, Channapora, Srinagar; Nisar Ahmad Wani of Malwari, Pulwama; and Riyaz Ahmad Shah of Midoora, Awantipora, Pulwama.

The case was registered following a complaint alleging that the four accused had secured appointments to various posts in the Health Department through the erstwhile Services Selection Recruitment Board (SSRB) by submitting fake and forged educational testimonials.

During the investigation, the documents submitted by the accused were verified and found to be forged and inconsistent with official records. Following the verification, their appointments were cancelled.

Investigators concluded that the accused had fraudulently obtained government employment by using forged certificates, thereby cheating the authorities.

The Economic Offences Wing has appealed to the public to remain vigilant against economic fraud and report such offences to the Senior Superintendent of Police, EOW Kashmir, Crime Branch J&K. Citizens can also submit complaints regarding economic fraud through the official email sspeow-kmr@jkpolice.gov.in, the statement added.
