Rajouri, July 6: Security forces launched a search operation early Monday after a suspected Pakistani drone was sighted over a forward village along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district, officials said.
According to officials, the drone-like object, fitted with a blinking light, was observed late Sunday night over the forward villages of Meenka and Beripattan in the Sunderbani sector.
The suspected drone reportedly crossed briefly into the Indian side before returning across the Line of Control into Pakistan.
Following the sighting, security forces immediately cordoned off the area and launched a thorough search operation at first light to determine whether the drone had dropped any payload, including narcotics, weapons, or other suspicious material.
Officials said that despite an extensive search of the area, no objectionable or suspicious material was recovered.
Security agencies continue to maintain heightened vigilance along the Line of Control, where attempts to use drones for smuggling arms, narcotics, and other contraband have been reported in the past. Authorities are closely monitoring the situation and remain alert to any potential cross-border activity.
