Samba Police Arrest Man with Illegal Revolver in Jammu

On Saturday, Jammu and Kashmir Police arrested Munna Singh, an alleged criminal, in Samba district. Law enforcement officials recovered an illegal revolver from his possession, underscoring the continuing concern over illegal firearms in the region.

Singh, a resident of Sohal village in Akhnoor, has been residing in Samba. He was traveling towards Kikri Morh from Data Talab when police on patrol noticed him behaving suspiciously near JDA Colony in the Bari Brahmana area, according to a police spokesperson.

Upon spotting the police team, Singh reportedly attempted to flee, raising further suspicion. The quick response of the police patrol resulted in his chase and capture, demonstrating the effectiveness of local law enforcement.

During the search, officers discovered the revolver in Singh’s possession. He could not present any valid license or legal authorization for possessing the weapon, a serious violation of the Arms Act. This prompted the officials to register a case under relevant provisions at the Bari Brahmana police station.

While further investigation is ongoing, the police have emphasized their commitment to curbing illegal arms in the area. The ongoing efforts by law enforcement aim to ensure public safety and prevent criminal activities associated with unauthorized weapons.

The presence of illegal firearms poses a significant threat to community safety in Jammu and Kashmir. Local authorities are stepping up measures to combat this issue, encouraging citizens to report suspicious activities that could indicate arms-related crimes.
