LG Manoj Sinha Lays Foundation Stone for Auditorium, Announces Educational and Sports Facilities in Gurha Slathia

Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha laid the foundation stone for a state-of-the-art auditorium and announced upgradation works at Government Higher Secondary School, Gurha Slathia. The new auditorium, with a seating capacity of 500 people, along with school modernization, will be funded through charitable contributions.

The project stems from a demand raised by local representatives and youth during the LG’s earlier visit to Gurha Slathia in February 2025. “When I visited in February, the youth requested a large auditorium. I promised to make it happen by contributing 50% of the funds and coordinating with the local MLA for the rest. But the budget constraints made it difficult, so I turned to revered Babaji for support, and he assured me of help. I’m happy and grateful today,” the LG said.

He expressed hope that the auditorium construction will be completed within a year, while also ensuring that the Government Higher Secondary School will be upgraded with modern, tech-enabled infrastructure.

In another major announcement, the Lieutenant Governor revealed plans for a sports facility in Gurha Slathia, also to be financed through charity. “Education shapes a region’s destiny. Investment in educational infrastructure not only fosters development but also drives economic growth and entrepreneurial activity,” he said.

Highlighting the transformative impact of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, LG Sinha stated that significant reforms have revolutionized school and higher education across Jammu and Kashmir. “Many regions across the world have witnessed economic transformation through massive investment in education and skill development. We are following the same path,” he said.

He further noted that equitable access to quality education is being ensured in rural areas, and thousands of previously out-of-school children have been brought back to classrooms. He urged the youth to utilize new skilling initiatives to help transform J&K into a hub of innovation, equality, and progress.

The Lieutenant Governor also spoke about the rapid development taking place in Samba, particularly in border areas, underlining the importance of strengthening these regions. “Border areas are our first line of defence. Over the past five years, Samba has seen remarkable infrastructure growth and fast-paced industrialization that has integrated the region with the national mainstream,” he remarked.

Addressing the gathering, the LG emphasized the ongoing reforms under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and urged all stakeholders to maintain development momentum. “Let us unite in strength and determination to build a better present and future for Jammu and Kashmir,” he said.

He also praised the efforts of MLA Surjit Singh Slathia, Divisional Commissioner Ramesh Kumar, Deputy Commissioner Rajesh Sharma, and the people of Samba, especially the youth, for their dedication in bringing visible transformation on the ground.

The event was attended by prominent citizens, officials, and large numbers of enthusiastic residents from the area.
